A new home for JS Creations

It's been a little while since my last post! I'm going to blame it on the paint fumes that have been circulating through our DIY-project-ridden home the last few weeks — it made me forget that I was going to share our progress along the way!

For the last month, we've been busy ripping up floors, slapping on some paint and picking out furniture for our new home office for JS Creations. Since I'm doing photography and freelance graphic design full-time from home now, Justin and I decided to tackle the office first in our remodeling venture.

The end goal is for me to have a place in our home that is separate from the rest of the house — a place where I can work creatively and efficiently and even meet with my clients.

We wanted the room to have a modern, bright and clean vibe — completely different from the homey, ranch-house style of the rest of the house.

The first step in doing that was to rip up the old floors — which ended up actually being two layers of floor, a tile floor and then a linoleum layer on top. As Justin scraped and scraped, it broke apart in teeny, tiny pieces that were oh so fun to clean up! And the glue that was left on the floor made for a fun game of "don't-stand-in-one-place-for-more-than-ten-seconds-or-your-shoes-will-be-stuck-to-the-floor." :)

We painted the trim around the baseboards, windows and crown molding a bright white and chose a light grey-blue for the walls. It's amazing how much brighter it is in that room now that the dark paint is off the wall!

We are in the process of finishing up the floors and then all we will have to do is move our stuff in! Can't wait to show the finished product!

Enjoy some pictures from along the way! And yes, it looks like Justin is doing all the work because — let's be honest — he is. I'm just the one who hands him what he needs and sticks a camera in his face while he works. How did I get so lucky? :)

After the floors were ripped up and many, many paint samples — we're ready to paint!

Thankfully Justin (a.k.a. Shaggy) got a haircut in the process of all this.

No, there was no goofing around during this project. Why do you ask?

That smile. (swoon)

Yes, he did get in trouble for using our Pioneer Woman towels to cut flooring on.

I'm a big help. Obviously.

Photos of the finished product coming soon! :)
